The Port of Port Angeles is a municipal corporation approved by Clallam County voters in 1922 and established in 1923. The port is responsible for promoting and enhancing the economic vitality of Clallam County through business development and job creation, and serves the community as both a public steward and an economically self-sustaining enterprise.
The Port of Port Angeles is located on the closest deep-water port to the Pacific Rim on the West Coast and is a short distance from the Puget Sound region and western Canada. With nearby Fairchild International Airport, companies have the ability to quickly move products, reach customers, and engage with emerging markets around the world. The airport has state-of-the-art facilities and can accommodate craft up to 737s. Serving both commercial and private planes, it has more than 800 acres of property, with 690 in aeronautical use and 123 in industrial park use.
Favorable Tax Climate
Currently, Washington state has no corporate, unitary or personal income tax, and no tax on intangibles or capital gains tax. The Rural County Sales and Use Tax Deferral / Waiver for Manufacturing Facilities allows deferral of retail sales and use tax on qualified construction and equipment costs for certain businesses and activities located in rural counties, including Clallam County. Eligible businesses and activities include manufacturing; the tax is waived when all qualifications are met.
